Man charged following armed police incident in Brandon

A man is due in court today following an incident involving armed police in Brandon.

Officers were called before 10:10pm on Wednesday, 28 January, to reports of a man making threats to harm himself and others at a block of flats in Yew Drive.

On police arrival the man then made threats towards officers and threatened to harm himself.

Armed police, negotiators as well as ambulance and fire crew responded to the incident, which was safely resolved after 11 hours – by approximately 9am the following day, Thursday 29 January.

A man aged in his 30s was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Adam Moran, of Yew Drive in Brandon, has now been charged with sending communication threatening death or serious harm.

He is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 30 January.
